Soon Wai's Graduation

Hello people!

Last Friday was the day. After many sleepless nights, battles against stress and conquering of procrastination, I am proud to declare that I have graduated! *Grins*

The past 3 years has been a fruitful and eventful one. Other than tests, projects and presentations, my days were enhanced with participation in camps, events, and workshops etc.
I can still remember the first time I stepped into TP as a freshie, for my orientation camp FOC 05/06. The camp was simply awesome! It kicked start my 3 years in TP on the right tone, and of course, it ended on a high with FOC 08/09.

TP is definitely THE Place to be. :D

That’s me!

FOC 08/09 with fellow grads.

Cheers to the 3 fanta-bulous years!

eNNOVATION Workshop

HELLO FOLKS!

We had visitors from various secondary schools who visited the School of Engineering last Wednesday for the eNNOVATION workshop. This workshop was organized to let the students get first hand experience on what our engineering students do during their tutorials and labs. Some of the workshops that the students attended were on Aerospace, Flash Animation and Fun with Electronics

The students enjoyed the Aerospace workshop alot especially the guys! The students learnt how to build a rocket and glider and they were really into this workshop as they were still happily discussing how their rockets should be built, and how to design it....even after the workshop had ended!

Another group of students attended the Flash Animation workshop. Students were taught how to use Macromedia Flash to create short animations. We also have the Fun with Engineering workshop! Students get to build their own amplifer! How cool is that! The best part about these workshops is that you get to bring home the stuff you've made (e.g: the amplifier) and most importantly... know what TP students get to do during their tutorial/lab sessions!!!! So folks... you have to attend these workshops if you have the chance to!

Graduation!!

Hi punks! One thing about TP's event "calendar" is that very soon after we say "hello" to a batch of freshies who join the TP family, we also say "goodbye" to an entire generation of TP students as well.

Yes, TP's Year 3 students are finally graduating! From tomorrow onwards, the TP schools of Applied Science, Business, Design, Engineering and Informatics & IT will be holding graduation ceremonies for all graduating students! Everyone will put on their graduation gowns and receive their awards and diplomas! There'll be food, fun, celebration and even tears!

That's the most number of times I've used the exclamation mark in a paragraph. Hyuk hyuk.

The tp4me blog team will be there to capture the best moments of the graduation (and all the times Frayon will end up embarrassing himself, which will be a lot) to put up here, but even more than that we actually have 2 members of blog team who are actually graduating!

Yep. Eudora and Shuk Wai will be graduating this year (tomorrow in fact) and they'll be posting over the next few days on their thoughts and feelings about graduating from TP! So you better make sure you pop by our blog often this week!

Or else. *glares*

Oh, before I go, check out my new T-shirt!

And yes, I know it's much nicer than this one:

Fann Wong in TP!

Hello all!

It’s been sometime since the bird did a bit of blogging. Well, to make it up, I am going to let you in on the hottest and JUICIEST gossip for the day:

Pssst… Fann Wong graduated from Temasek Polytechnic yesterday!
Technically speaking, though. HAHA. She was actually filming a new chinese drama serial for channel 8. (I will update on this once I find out.) And since I happen to be flying around nearby, here are a couple of shots for you.

Having wings certainly gives you all the privileges.

*Smugs*

Anyways, people, the CCN day is tomorrow! I bet there is going to be so much fun. Stick around to find out more!

Top Graduates in TP!

Hello!!!

It's so exciting that just next week, I will be attending my very own graduation ceremony! Imagine, 3 years just flew by like this! *gasps* Anyway, with graduation coming up next week, we will be featuring some very outstanding students from TP who have definitly gained a holistic education here!

Today, we're going to be featuring Ng Xi Yun from the Diploma in Biomedical Informatics&Engineering and Jonah Dela Cruz from the Diploma in Information Technology. Being the fair person that I am, let's start with the lady first.

Xi Yun has a really special story to tell. She took her entire second year to pursue an 11-month long exchange program in 2006. The program was fully sponsored by the Japanese government and only two participants were selected from each ASEAN country. Imagine how honoured she must have felt to be representing our very own sunny island.

She went to Japan with very basic knowledge of the language and had to communicate with her host family through sign language and writing. She even had to study the different subjects in High School in Japanese! But after 11 months there, she is now conversant in the language and has even organised exchanged programs for the TP students and students from Japan.

Xi Yun also has a love for swimming. When quizzed about why she had taken up swimming in poly, she mentioned that the only motivation behind it was because of her love for it. She believes in training hard to excel in her sport, and having representing the school in innumerable competitions.

Not only does she excel in her CCAs in school, she has done really well academically gaining a GPA of 3.92. On top of that, she is driven by her passion for acquiring new knowledge, attending talks and workshops to enhance her understand on Bioinformatics.

Certainly, a real inspiration to all of us. No wonder, she has been awarded the All-Rounder Award, rewarding her for all her academic and non-academic achievements.

Next up, our Lee Kuan Yew award winner, Jonah Victor Dakis Dela Cruz. If one cannot guess his nationality from his name, Jonah hails from the Philippines and had moved here when he was 15. At that tender young age where most of his peers were more interested in playing computer games, he had a passion for designing and building websites. Armed with this passion, he started to find out more about coding and had worked together with a staff from his secondary school to revamp the school's website.

In 2007, Jonah was selected by the school for the Microsoft Office Specialist Challenge (Excel Category) and emerged as the National Champion. He then went on to represent Singapore in the Worldwide Microsoft Competition in the USA, securing an impressive score and earning the Runner Up position beating representatives from over 40 countries.

With his passion and skills for IT, he went with the school to Cambodia to help set up computers, to help improve the quality of life there by introducing technology.

Just reading and writing all about them makes me feel so motivated! With more of such features coming up, be ready to get as inspired as me! So stay tuned or be square!

Post-Mother's Day & TP Graduation

I hope that by now, the shock of seeing Fanning and her mum has somewhat subsided, and you're mostly able to resume a normal life. I am, personally, still having nightmares, but since then I've placed a few pictures of myself next to my bed, and whenever I feel scared thinking of Fanning, I'll just look at the photos of myself and feel very much more comforted.

It's one of my many effects on people. So I decided to "counter" the effect of Fanning's Mother's Day post, I've decided to post a picture of my mother.

My mother rocks because she gave birth to me. Can you imagine that? She gave birth to perfection! She's the mother of perfection! That's my mother. Happy post-Mothers' Day mummy!

Next week we'll be focusing all our resources on TP's Graduations! That's right! Right after we accept the freshies, we also prepare to say goodbye to our graduates! Check this space for more info on it soon!

Happy Mother's Day!

Although many percieve me to be a hard and rough girl, I am honestly quite a softie deep inside. Again, it depends on the person in front of me. Different people evokes different manifestations from me. Anyways, this entry is dedicated to my mummy. (Yes, Fanning loves her mummy. Anyone has a problem with that?! *cracks knuckes*)

Here is a photo of me with my mother. People say I take after her. I think I look very much prettier though.

Mum and Fanning

This weekend being Mother's Day weekend, all of us ought to spend some time to appreciate them. So to my mummy dearest, Me love You!

To all the mothers out there,

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Punks, you better take your momma out this weekend! UNDERSTAND!

Solid as Bone,
Fanning

Reflection Week

Hello everyone!!

It's been a while since I stepped foot here and today, I am all about reminiscing about my days here in TP. For 3 years I probably had the best time of my life doing the things that I love to do,being given the opportunities that I can never hope or dream of plus making some pretty good friends here.

Year 1 was an adjustment year after 10 years of root learning. I remember being a real greenhorn on my first day here because I didn't know anyone! Everyone seemed to have a familiar face here in CMM with them but I had none! I was shell shocked but but but, I was really blessed to have met my classmates whom were really nice and real - no one was all fake and stuff that I really don't like.

Then I had the chance to fly off to Perth, Western Australia for 3 whole weeks for an exchange program to University of Western Australia. It was an orgasmic experience! Imagine, no parents, a whole new different learning style, cooking and fending for yourself there. I even had my 3 minutes of fame because we were featured in an article in iWeekly.

Us with the other exchange students in UWA.

My flatmates and I outside the National Museum.

My 3 minutes of fame on iWeekly.

Hmm...let's see. Year 3 just flew by without me knowing anything. HAHA. I was sent to Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre to do my internship. I got the chance to see everything that goes behind the scenes for all the bigh conventions and exhibitions that are held in Suntec Singapore. I even got stuck in the human jams during the crazy IT Fair! I couldn't even walk out to get lunch then. Pfft.

Then I came back to school for my final sem where I majored journalism. Got to do lots of interesting projects. Wrote to my hearts content with articles after articles.

So as you can tell people, I really have been given a lot of opportunities whilst I was studying here in TP. Honestly, I cannot imagine how my poly life would have been if I had chosen to go to another poly. TP is my choice and it was a good choice!

Frayon Reflects

Hello everyone! Frayon here. It’s been a long time since I’ve finally been given space to talk about myself. All about me. Me me me me me.

Ah, how good it feels.

So we’re supposed to start reflecting on our school life. However, I’ve decided that if you actually knew which schools I was from, there would be hordes of screaming girls swarming those schools in an attempt to -

Wait, screaming girls? Are you sure that they are not screaming just because you are near them?

*ignores Fanning* IN AN ATTEMPT to find out more about my very elusive past, so in order to protect my ex-teachers and my alumni schools (after all, I am a noble, caring and patriotic individual) -

Which world are you living in Frayon?

*ignores Fanning AGAIN* I will refer to my Secondary School as Genius Secondary School (GSS) and my Acad School in TP as Prince Charming School (or PC), and as part of the reflections I will be showing you what I looked like back then … … Nothing ELSE to say, Fanning?

I am just speechless. From disgust.

That’s certainly a first. Why are you here anyway? This is MY post.

Frayon, your first few paragraphs of your reflections have been the most disgusting and obnoxious pieces of junk I’ve seen on this blog, so just STICK to reflecting or I will tear out your leg and beat you to death with it.

What? This is MY post, I can do whatever I want you wetblanketspoilsportsourgrapes. So anyway, without further ado, here’s a picture of me during my times in Genius Sec:

It’s not a very accurate representation (I have a nose, for example, and obviously I’m not so yellow), but I’d say it’s about 90% there. As you can see, I was a very fit and healthy 16 year old.

Waittt...Frayon please do not mislead the readers. If you are to give an accurate representation of yourself, it would look like this:

… … Oh yeah? If you were to be represented when you were younger, you’d look like THIS:

*punches Frayon*

OW!! MAI NOZE!! CHOO WHACKED MAI NOZE!! Mummeee….!! *runs away*

There you have it punks... that's the most accurate representation of Frayon.
